Subject: Spammer again
After my recent post, the spammer one again displayed his maturity level by starting a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack. Over four days, he submitted a total of 3249 very silly and pointless posts. That's a lot. Still, as far as DDOS attacks go, it's pretty feeble.
It took me about five or ten minutes to modify the source code for the message board to automatically block the silly posts, so that I (as moderator) don't have to manually reject them. Then it took me maybe another five or ten minutes to structure a database query to clean up the whole mess from the last four days at one stroke.
I'm not going to say exactly what criteria I used to block the posts; I'll leave that as a puzzle for the spammer. If he makes any progress, I'll just refine the criteria as needed.
I can't see how any benefit come to the guy for making these posts. The current silly posts don't even have the nominal moneymaking value of containing advertisements. The spammer could be out using these same skills to make decent money thru legitimate means. It does make you wonder what's going on in the guy's brain, exactly.
