Subject: old icelandic
i translated some passages of the groenlendinga saga for my thesis. i wasn't able to find the word "óskatt" but in an english translation by magnusson and palsson (1965) they tranlsate the entire sentence, i.e. "Freydís fór nú til bús síns því að það hafði staðið meðan óskatt" into: "F. returned to her farm which had in no way suffered during her absence". i'd like to know if it's an interpretation of the meaning of the sentence or if it's a literary translation word by word. thank you for helping me. egle
