Subject: Germanic words for 'wise' or 'wise people'

Does anybody know of any Germanic words for 'wise' (adjective) or 'wise people' (plural noun) that could be rendered 'wica' or 'wika' or 'wicka'? I am not looking for 'wicca', but perhaps something related, but much older. I am aware of Old English 'wica' 'wican' 'wice' 'wike' etc. related to 'awakened' 'awakening' and 'awake', but I don't know if any these actually work. I'm not a linguist, and am likely to come up with the wrong answer.

The word I'm looking for has been variously described as Old Saxon and Danish-Saxon. The spelling 'wica' may be phonetic. The spelling may be Scottish (as with the word 'wise' spelled 'wice' in the last century).
