Wow! THANK YOU! I've been scouring the web for information and ran across this project. The Wright MHG scanned book has helped me get a grip on what I'm looking at. :-)
Forgive me because this isn't entirely on-topic for this message board, but I'm not entirely sure where to go and would appreciate any pointers.
I've been helping in a project to transcribe and translate a number of specialized German documents (fechbücher) from the 15th century. I know very little about German -- just regular exposure past high school 20 years ago -- but have had enough experience with Medieval and Rennaisance-era calligraphy that I can decipher the handwriting. After transcribing it I let the German language guys have at translating.
My problem is that not knowing the language very well has been a hinderance. I've been reading through the scanned book on MHG (Joseph Wright), which has helped me understand what I'm looking at, but I'm finding a gap between MHG resources and NHG. The NHG resources I'm finding are primarily modern German &c., but there are peculiarities to this early NHG that just aren't covered, and are too late for the MHG references.
Any ideas where I might look for primer information about German during these early NHG years? The Joesph Wright MHG text you have scanned here has helped, but it's still a little early to be a complete help for the grammar of 15th century German.
