Yes, your description is correct. When you submit a corrected page, the database of pages is immediately marked that the page has been corrected, but the corrected page is not incorporated into the search system until the next weekly rebuild on Saturday evening. So, yes, when the search system says that a page has been corrected, this information might actually be a few days out of synch with the text which is actually being displayed in the seach system.
Since the number of pages submitted every week if fairly low, this shortcoming should affect a pretty small fraction of all search results. On the other hand, of course it's natural that you'd search for the text in a page you've just corrected as soon as you submit it. So I guess the problem is pretty visible to everyone doing the corrections.
Unfortunately, there's no easy fix. Since I've always had limited time to give to the project, I've had to make many compromises of this general sort.
